Jozef Toczek - who I am

At the close of my life I can see how difficult it is to classify me professionally. I carried out f many professions. Here are some of them:

Entrepreneur - I run my own consulting firm - IT Exportal, I was on the supervisory boards of large corporations - Kredyt Bank, Warta and GDF Suez Polaniec Power Station. I advised the PSE Electricity and the KBC bank.

Consultant - I was a consultant to UNCTAD, UNIDO, FAO, World Bank, EBRD, European Union, the CCF Bank, KBC Bank, PSE (PGE), either individually or through consulting firms such as FAI, Coopers & Lybrand, Deloitte Touche, CSL, RHH Consult Carl Bro, GFA Agrar, Exportal.

Banker - For many years I worked in various banking occupations: a credit counselor, bank representative, consultant, supervisory board member – in EBRD, the World Bank, CCF bank, Privatbank, Belarusbank, KBC Bank, Kredyt Bank.

Author - I am the author of two books and co-author of the third author of several journal articles and over a hundred reports and studies.

Diplomat - I worked for over 20 years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, graduated from the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, I was head of a diplomatic mission in Laos.

Linguist - I speak fluently in six languages ??–Polish, German, English, French, Russian, Italian. Because for three years I studied German philology at the University of Wroclaw, I acquired practical language skills during stays in Austria, Italy, former USSR, the USA, the former French colony – Laos and by working in English and French -speaking UN.

Scientist - I have a Doctorate in Economics. I lectured at the Planning Course for Developing Countries at SGPiS (Warsaw School of Economics). I was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Economic Development Institute of Warsaw School of Economics, a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Regional and Social Geography at Warsaw University and a member of the Committee of the Research and Forecasting "Poland 2000" of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Futurologist - For many years I have been a member of the Committee for Research and Forecasting "Poland 2000" of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a member of "The World Future Society" in the U.S.. I have been dealing with the future of agriculture in my book " The World Food Dilemma."

The farmer - I grew up in a farming family, because for almost eleven years I worked in the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN, because I wrote a book about agriculture and for more than 30 years I have owned a country house in a village, so I have current contact with the rural life and agriculture.

Bibliophile - I have a multi-lingual library of approximately 7,000 volumes of books, some in my apartment in Warsaw, part of in my country house in Suchowizna. The main areas are fiction, art, economics, business, finance, political science, sociology, ecology.

Traveler and a guide - I have visited about 50 countries around the world, and as a student, I was earning my living as a tour guide of foreign visitors to Poland and a tour guide of Polish visitors abroad in Juventur, Almatur and Orbis travel offices. I was also a licensed Warsaw guide.

Impresario - As a student at SGPiS (now SGH) – Warsaw School of Economics, I was manager of its student club, "Jajko” (Egg), now “Hades”, which comprised a “Cap” cabaret group of Jacek Snopkiewicz, big beat music ensemble "Volcanoes ", a social tournament dancing group, disco dancing evenings and a club of political thought. Before that I was a manager of a student club at the in a student hostel at Madalinskiego Street.
